6 Things that Made My Week

So I have about half a dozen real posts (you know, the kind with actually paragraphs and ponderings [that should really be a word] and such) half-written, but I can’t seem to find the time to finish them lately, so in their stead is another easy picture picture post. Hopefully I have time to get some actual writing done in between all my work shifts this weekend (this is the part where we all pretend I am in fact going to get off my 8 hour shift today and immediately start working on my writing instead of dipping a bunch of Cheetos in sour cream and washing them down with $4.00 Moscato while watching Friends reruns. Thank you for your participation in this charade).

  1. I went to my first Twins game with some of my favorite people on earth. Yeah, I’m the one in the middle, 3 whiskey cokes in and trying not to think about how high up we are. Because you literally can’t get higher unless you scale the metal grid/fence contraption behind us. It was like that moment from The Goblet of Fire when Ron asks, “Blimey Dad, how far up are we?” and Lucius Malfoy cuts in “Well put it this way, if it rains, you’ll be the first to know.” And it did rain, but the nice part about being in the worst seats you can buy is that they have a lovely little overhang above them so we were not the first to know. Take that, Lucius Malfoy.

2. My bathroom is almost all redone! I mean, there’s only so much I can do with a rental bathroom on a Goodwill budget (the owls are literally from Goodwill), but I still had to try. The only thing I have left to do is find a mirror or picture that actually covers the ugly medicine cabinet door so it will be like a secret compartment. I’m a firm believer that every dwelling should have at least one secret compartment or passageway.IMG_1569IMG_1570IMG_1578

3.I actually have all of my clothes put away and my closet is clean! This is such a rare occurrence it must be celebrated. Why do I have so many shoes when tennis shoes are the only thing comfortable enough to wear to work everyday? Why!? Also, I have to constantly purge my closet because I got the “small” closet in the apartment. My roommate’s is 4 times as big. Hers could literally hold a third roommate. We should really consider that to lower our rent.IMG_1550IMG_1557IMG_1559IMG_1551

4. The weather is actually starting to be a manageable temperature for human existence now so I can feel comfortable in my work clothes again. And I can start wearing blazers again! I’ve missed them so much. I had Family Game night yesterday so I got a little more dressed up than normal for work. I also had to wear one pair of shoes and pack the heels because… well, look at them. Not very library friendly.IMG_1584

5. I got a ton of compliments on my random water bottle purchase. I had a S’well water bottle just chillin in my Amazon shopping cart until I could justify spending 40 bucks on a water bottle, but I saw this cheaper version for 10 at HomeGoods  so I thought, why not? And I think I got more compliments on it in one day than I have on my writing, appearance, and/or personality in the last year. Interesting.IMG_1586

6.I finally made it to a Family Game Night (they happen every month) and we went for a little gander in the mosquito-infested woods. Along the path we saw this giant lime green mushroom and for some reason I loved it so much that I insisted getting a picture with it. Also, if you look closely enough, you can see the panic in my eyes because right as the picture was taken I was told I was crouching next to poison ivy. Oh joy. IMG_1587
